i think most of us have ALWAYS been felons to some extent. . . P2P file swapping is just the newest notch on the belt. . .

but until the bill passes and they actually nail some poor SOB . . . long live the P2P!! heheheh

I wouldn't use P2P anymore, pretty much every client has RSAA watching on it, especially Kazaa and Kazaa Lite ... everything will pretty much go back to friends sharing via FTP ...

yeah, doubtful that this will get through. Politicians are concerned with 2 things, money and on a much higher level getting re-elected because the longer they are in the more money they get (!). fining and inprisoning, i would say roughly 60%, of you constituants and constituants in the near future (16 and older) would be bad for them and nearly impossible to pull off. they would probably figure out a way to get the coders of p2p clients.

that will just be a scare tactic, it would be very hard and very expensive to go after millions of people. its made to make parents scared of p2p and keep their kids from using the programs, efectively stopping the growth of the p2p networks

sure they could get the information from the p2p coders, but im not stupid enough to sign up with a real name or real email. and with my pacbell dsl, my ip changes daily, so that would slow down the tracking process.

aside from that it probably will not pass.

Well idf the bill passed they couldn't go after people who already used it. At least I wouldn't think so cause it wouldn't have been illegal at the time the transfers were taking place. I am prob. wrong but thats what I would think.

Yes...going after the people who have already done it would be ex-post facto (if they go after them through the new bill), which is prohibited by the constitution if my memory serves me right.

well lets see if they actually do pass the bill do u actually think they r gonna pick u outa the 1/4 US population that use P2P? prolly not. they will go for the people that have no life and have full hard drives full of movies and games and thousands of songs not the ppl that download a couple hundred of the songs they like.

i wont lie, i have full hard drives and tons of movies but i do have a life!!!!!! plus remember that u can que up everything b/f u go out so i think you can have the best of both worlds
