So my girlfriend bought a GLE like a month ago, and I loved it so much that I bought one for myself. My GXE is like the polar opposite of hers colorwise; hers is nice and sunny on the inside, and mine is uhh, very dark, lol.

We're planning on paying these off fairly quickly but want to own them for the rest of their lifetimes; we know how damn good of cars they are vs. everything else on the road that model year.

On the inside, she's gonna keep her Bose system running good as long as it doesn't do the stupid things that some of the other Maxima/I30 Bose systems do. I'm in the process of ordering a Bluetooth Sony deck, some front 6.5's and a sub amp and capacitor, and will install those with my surface mount tweeters and dual 10" bandpass as soon as everything comes in.

On the outside, I think hers looks beautiful stock, and we will probably just replace factory suspension and exhaust stuff with mild aftermarket upgrades as needed. Mine, well, it came with the ugly GXE hubcaps, so I ditched them for some chrome rings for a bit of the cop car look, and will also replace suspension and exhaust components with mild aftermarket upgrades. I'll definitely install a set of 17's and some 215/50R17's as soon as I can (that would be a good size for this car, correct?) I'd also like to decrease body roll without stiffening the ride too much (would that entail replacing some bushings with poly ones?).

They both ride great and run great, and were carfax all-stars with lower than average mileage and one owner each. We'll watch for starter/alt problems, and the cat plug-up problem and hope to catch these issues before they cause us any owner-stress,

...

(For what it's worth, I'm a father of two and a Creative Director of a software company who's been busy for the last year fighting cancer and dealing with 3 surgeries and 8 rounds of chemotherapy, and my girlfriend is my Oncology Nurse and my hero.)

So yeah, hello Maxima and I30 Forum! You'll see more of me!

Welcome.

I'll answer questions, since nobody else did.

I would suggest going with a 225/45/17. The extra width is quite nice. 17s will give you better performance and fuel economy over 18s, so that's a good choice in rim size.

As for reducing body roll. Start with a strut tower bar. Energy suspension should have some replacement busings that will stiffen things a little as well.

When/if your struts give out. You can think about doing some true suspension mods (sport springs/struts) or you can go with Monroe's. They supposedly have really good replacement struts/shocks.

I'm glad you and the gf like the Maxis. I'll be hoping The Big Guy ^ takes care of you both.

I believe the factory tire size is 225/50R17.
