I'm contemplating buying (currently the highest bidder on) a WD21. I've had lots of S-Chassis cars in the past, but I've always loved the WD21's. One came up for auction that's completely rust free, well maintained, V6, 4WD, manual transmission. I couldn't resist, so I bid on it. Bid doesn't end for 5 days, so maybe I won't win, but I wanted feedback from everyone on what a n00b should know about this truck. Plans for it would be minor. Bolt-ons for power upgrades, small body lift, some slightly bigger wheels and tires, stereo and lighting upgrades and that's about it. Something that I can take my kid to school in during the week but looks good. I have no aspirations of building any kind of off-road monster.

So NICO peeps, let me know what I need to know! Thank you!!!

LOVE them.

There's nothing about a manual V6 WD21 that would be a dealbreaker, if it's in good condition.

Got a link to the auction? Or pics of the vehicle?

Very nice ride! The pictures remind me of my old "91 Pathfinder XE Manual 4WD but this '93 looks to be in better condition than mine was 6 years ago before some kid ran a red light and t-boned me. Nobody hurt but there was no fixing the damage this time. Even with almost 250K miles on it, the kid's insurance paid up $2000 as it was totaled. It was worth more than 2 grand to me. This '93 it getting up there in the bidding but I think it's still worth it.

A '93 rust free Pathy? Very nice. If I recall, there were no big downsides to them aside from being on the smaller side for a mid sized suv, (though bigger than a cute ute) , slightly below average fuel economy for their size and being rust prone. I looked seriously at the next (bigger) generation Pathy as I liked them better, but i ended up buying a 4 runner. My $.02 is If this one avoided enthusiastic young person ownership during it's fully depreciated years and is solid, you probably have a hidden gem there. If you do pull the trigger, I'd suggest keeping visually stock as they're rapidly disappearing. Nice find.

I love WD21s! I'd trade my R50 for one if I could--especially for a manual.

Not really much I don't like about them aside from the JATCO automatic, but with a manual they're really solid. I think they're superior as trucks to the unibody 2nd gen, but not quite as well-mannered on-road or as roomy inside. VG30 is solid but pretty gutless. Expect both no power and awful fuel economy, and expect to shift a lot unless you're on level roads (Nissan did a really bad job pairing the gear ratios with the VG30's powerband) but at least you have a manual so you won't be waiting for the awful auto to figure itself out every time you find a slight incline.

It got too rich for my blood! Comments says it's on eBay now with a $14,500 reserve. I get that it's clean, but it's not THAT clean. It would have to be flawless and low miles to get anywhere near that. I think the seller is smoking crack.. There are NO WD21's in my area. They all rusted into nothingness a decade ago, that why I was excited when I saw this one. Bleh.

Found it. It's on eBay, no bidding. Either buy-it-now for $14,500 or make an offer.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/NISSAN-PATHFIN ... SwJkFdz5Rq

Listing says "Near museum quality" :lolling: :bs:

Cracked dashes and 100K miles is not what I call anywhere near museum quality. And I don't think any automobile collectors are going to pick this up for $15K, sit on it for a few years, and then sell it again, and think they'll make anything on it. Maybe I'm wrong?

Yeah, I'm all about 80s-90s Nissan prices going up, but this guy is on crack. Moving along.

Should send seller a message and link to this thread... you know, where the experts are. :)

$14,500 for buy it now? I'd ask him if that price includes the drugs he's been taking to believe he'd get that much. It has a very good detail job, and if it's had as much done to it as he says, then the current BaT price seems reasonable, but certainly not double that.
