I thought we talked on AIM, so I deleted ur email...heh. I'm not the best guy to talk to about the USAF, I'm getting out in 1 year, which will make 11 years total. But I'm in a career field that deploys alot. Like said above, I'm a Spec Ops Helo Crew Chief. Its a love hate job, flying around and shooting **** is always cool, but deploying to the desert or every other scirmish we get into sucks. Spec Ops has been involved in every single military operation since Nam.
Money...lol, it sucks. I can make as much working at Walmart as a Manager. Granted I get free health care, which is a bonus cause health care is expensive, plus I'm almost 30, so my health has been better. Course I drink enough to kill a herd of cows, but thats just me. But free health care isn't always good, cause the the expression goes "you get what you pay for", well thats true in this case as well. You get whatever 21 year old Lt they made a doctor. Somthing about me having to call this kid Sir and have him diagnose my problems while he's reading through medical books is a tad scary. Not to mention, if they accidently say, Blind you, you can't sue them. Your just blind, I say this cause it happened to a friend of mine last year, he now has no sight in his left eye. Doctor poked his eye with a needle...
Then again, its been a great ten years of my life. I've been more places and done more things the 98% of the American population. I've drank beer in over 20 different countries, I've had Guiness in Ireland, which was a personal goal of mine. I've raced Skylines, 180's and all sorts of other cars.
What job you pick all depends on your personality, alot of people don't have the backbone to do what I do, but then again, I couldn't stand sitting in they're office filing papers.
School is free...can't beat that. Get your CCAF and then your BA and get out, pretty much find a good job paying about 50 or so a year. That basically where I am now, cept I'm going into bussiness for myself. If things don't go well, I can always get a management type job doing whatever.
The best thing I can say is this, since I've been rambling for like 15 minutes, do whatever makes you happy. Happiness is key man. I lost the edge a year ago. Things just aren't as fun as they used to be for me. So I'm moving on...
