Im really digging the hood and Type-X front end.Its kinda funny because in the photos with flash your car is almost the same color as mine until I go outside to discover my paint job is on its last leg and they still arent the same color after close inspection.

But props for the type-x front end, I've been thinking about it over the silvia front end not because of price but I love those little square park lamps and lower grill lights. What I wonder is that if they made any Kouki type-x fronts that didnt have the license plate recess cavity.

iirc there are 3 diff type x bumpers they all have some sort of lic plate mount. i think one of them just has little metal tabs that com out and i forget how the 3rd kind are. its cool to hear u have a similar color, post pics when ur done. i agree the hood looks really nice on the car w/ the type x conversion. if u have a coupe i would say def go w/ the type x over silvia. i like a clean sil80 but i think the type x looks nicer and u dont see as many ppl doing them. i got really lucky w/ the front bumper it only costs $100 bucks and there was no shipping since it was in philly and my friend who lives in philly was coming up for the weekend he just picked it up and brought it with him.

thanks for the props. hopefully the final pics will be soon. i agree w/ u on the frame repair and the harness mounting points. both are just temporary so the car will pass the reconstruction inspection. when things settle down i plan to cut the front half of the frame rails off of another s13 and weld them in place of mine. and i didnt mention it before but i had a rollcage that i purchased that was actually for an s14. i had planned to use it for harness mounting but since it didnt fit i sold it and have not gotten another one yet, i will eventually though.

yep, it may be possible to do so w/o them if u fab something up. but they arent that expensive. i cant see how it would be worth the headache to try it w/o them. when i started the conversion i decided i'd only use authentic parts, no knock offs. def saves u in the long run

they go between the fender and bumper. i'll get some pics to show how, but pretty much the bumper has slots and the brackets have tabs that go in them

update- the rain has def slowed my process down but hopefully i can get back on track tomorrow. i was gonna work on it today regardless of weather, but i slept in til 2 pm i did manage to find out what process i have to go through to get the authorities involved w/ the guy that was gonna paint my car. i was trying not to get cops involved, but when u change ur cell phone number to avoid them and u have over $600 worth of their stuff i dont care who i have to get involved. the plans for tomorrow are to file the paper work to get my things back and drop my car off for the reconstruction inspection. coilovers and a cusco front strut bar are on the way and hopefully i can get them on shortly.

since i dont have any progress made i figured i'd post a pic i just found of how my engine bay used to look when i bought the car. i like to think i brough it a long way, enjoy. compared to now

it is still a work in progress but for a few months worth of work i'm happy.

yep thats is exactly. once u have it all in front of u its pretty straight forward.

UPDATE- took the car to inspection today, its been there a few times already but its very tricky to convince ur mechanic that ur engine is smog legal and that all the emissions equipment is hooked up and functional. lets just say my cat is a total dummy and my charcoal canister setup is quick release lol. when it gets back i'll take pics of it but i had to make it look like the vacuum lines for emissions run somewhere. the funny thing is i dont even have the stock canister anymore, i had to use the one off of my rx7, lol. i went after work to file the necessary paperwork to file against the guy who was gonna paint my car. i got out of work a little late and didnt get there before they closed. i get out a little earlier tomorrow so i'm heading straight over after work. they said it'll take about 3 days until he gets notified by the authorities. on another note i gut an early birthday present from my wife, came in the mail today.thats right front cusco strut bar, brand newmy dog, Spike wondering what new chew toy he has, lolhe thought the hardware so a snack.

i'll post tomorrow and let you all know how inspection and pressing charges goes.

I am about to change my front end to the Type X as well, seeing how, whoever put the current Vertex front end did a very crappy job, and is now falling apart, since they took off the front bumper support (Pretty much, the same problem you had).

My question is, did you remove the bumper support?

I have all the necessary hardware, minus those Nismo brackets, and fender support brackets. But, as you said they aren't expensive, so I'm not worried about it.

mine was removed before i bought it. the bumper support and metal 5 mph bumper were removed to make room for the big intercooler

Ok, but would the Type X bumper fit with the bumper support installed? I reinstalled the bumper support when I got the car because without it, the front bumper was bouncing, which lead to the fenders bending and eventually ripping/breaking. I have since then replaced the fenders.

that is a good question. my answer would be yes since its oem and made to work w/ everything factory but i dont know for sure

UPDATE - well not really much of an update but where the inspection is concerned they didnt get to it today. i expected as much and really dont mind. my mechanic said dont bother to make an appointment just drop it off when ur ready, so w/ no appointment i can be patient.

in the matter involving filing against my ex-paint guy. to file the civil complaint i needed to get his address. i swung by his apartment just to get the exact address only to find out he unexpectedly moved out on top of changing his cell phone number and having it come up as restricted when he makes calls. wow, ya think he's avoiding giving my **** back? anyways i guess i'll just give the cops his last know address and see what they can track down. the whole thing and his behavior really pisses me off. so if anyone know how to track someone down and find their current address or phone number let me know, thanks. i'll let u all know how it turns out, later

update- all right this is going to be the last update w/o pics. i just wanted to announce that i filed against the guy who was going to do my paint for a total of $1300 i listed his last know address so hopefully it will get forwarded, if no i need to track him down.

the mechanic did have a chance to take a look at my car today and said it would pass except it has no windshield squirters and they are needed to pass. i told him i'd be right over to slap them on, i hadnt realized they were mandatory and didnt put them on since the hood is coming off to get recleared. i took five mins and connected the hose and the squirters real quick and thought that was it, right? WRONG!!!! he left a voicemail while i was at work to let me know the squirters dont squirt ( i think i accidentally hooked them up to the nipple for the rear window ) but he told me i didnt have to bring it back in just fix and my word will be good enough. he said he'll get the paper work to me on sunday so i can sign then he'll send it in first thing monday, so WOOHOO my car finally passed its reconstruction inspection!!!!! this is really impressive since i've dropped it off for him like 5 times, and even more impressive that i dont have a single piece of functioning emissions equipment. just picked up the car tonight and before work tomorrow i'm gonna just about wrapt up the body work. i'll also take pics to show you how i "passed" the emissions equipment portion.
