I'm road legal and in an S13, the UK won't know what hit it!:ylsuper
First things first (i've already written a chip and raised the boost ), I gotta make an exhaust system, the standard one is too quiet, so what shall it be, side exit or rear exit?

Lol, just get a side exit, and if your externaly gated, get a screamer pipe to run right out beside your front tires (not aiming at them). That way, when you hit full boost that thing will open up and blow flame. True drag car

i say you drop the gas tank and throw a fuel cell in your trunk so you can have the pipes coming out of where your rear license plate would normally be. kinda like those super expensive exotic sports cars that i can't remember the names of. i think lotus make a car with something along those lines though...

Paul - side baby, all the way!Nab911 - Since you have a test pipe, I'd pick up a Catylitic converter, slap it in there for the emmision's test and then take it back out. I'd bet that would get you to pass. Thank goodness we don't have to mess with it in Kansas.

Oh i know, but will this this thing even pass? All it is, is the smog test. When i get my custom exhaust made im going to have to get him to weld flangs for the test pipe so i can put that cat in there.

Nab911, I don't know that it will pass afterwards, but it definatly won't pass without it. There is also some stuff you're supposed to be able to add to your gastank that will gaurentee that will pass, I can't remember what it's called though...

"Gaunteed to pass" Lol yeah that stuff helps. Also ill have fuel management and boost controller by then so i can turn the boost down and lean it a little. Also i know of all the little tricks to do before getting it tested because i used to be an inspector. Its not strict, just there.

Lol shiiiit, Ours involves a check to see if a cat is present. Then they run a 25/25 which is a 25 mph with the dyno putting 25% load on it. Then a 50/15 which is you guessed it, 50 % load at 15 mph. The tests check for NOx (NO2, NO, NO4... which a cat fixes), then for HC (hydrocarbons... unburnt gas) and then CO which is just a clean well running engine. I dont think burning oil messes with it that bad because i passed and it filled the shop with smoke because it burned so bad .

dude, that blows. here in good 'ol alabama, no one has ever heard of an emissions test, let alone had to take one! a cat isnt even required here! about half my friends have trucks without them, and i think its about the same with everyone else too.

You're serious? Our TÜV(thats the place where u get inspected) does a lot of useless tests (me thinks), but testing gas cap (that's that thing that u close after filling up the tank? just to make sure i got i right) pressure is the best so far, that beats even our TÜV!

Lol well not the gas cap DOOR but the actual cap that screws in. In the training class i took right before the cert test, they explained that that test is to check to make sure the caps can hold pressure well and wont let fumes leak out on hot days... thats the MOST bull**** i have ever heard
P.S. I have never seen anyone fail that test except for my brother just due to the fact that he didnt even have a gas cap. His POS blazer was the worst running vehicle i had ever seen but it passed up until that gas cap part which is last, it was helarious.

I wish the CA had OBDII wiring and computer cuz here in PA, any OBDII car just gets the computer checked for wrong/thrown codes and the gas cap checked to see if it holds pressure. Luckily, I know a few people in the area so passing shouldn't be a problem even if the CA fails the sniffer miserably, lol.

There is a CAT test for vehicles made after Aug 92, but for some reason the S13 was missed off the list! my old car was a '93 and didn't need a CAT! All that test is they hold the revs between 2500-3000 and make sure the CAT is working, mine sure doesn't, but thats because I took a pole and shashed the crap out of the inside of my CAT!
