I finally got around to installing my boost gauge last night and I hit 14-16 psi in the first two gears and can peg the gauge at 20 after that. I'm thinking my vacuum lines are hooked up wrong, any ideas?

Are you running any boost controller? Where did you hook up the hose?

I hooked mine up to the vac hose coming straight off the fuel pressure regulator. I am st stock boost and in first and second I would have to floor it to get it to 7psi. It becomes easier in 4 and 5 it is alot easier to hit 7 psi.

Sounds like the wastegate is staying closed.

There should be a nipple somewhere on your charge piping. That's what your wastegate feeds off of. And if you have a boost controller, it should go in between that signal line.

There is no nipple on the charge piping, if you have an aftermarket hot pipe then that may be installed. I believe in the stock cofiguration the wastegate's vacuum line was connected to the piping after the intercooler, I belive thats the configuration that Brent is running right????

Most people post about their specifict configuration (not all), as opposed to helping people figure out the source of their problem........you can't do that without knowing what Brent's setup looks like.

I don't have aboost controller. I have the stock piping and it has a nipple on it, but that line runs to something else (it has 2 vacuum lines and an electrical connection). Is this part needed or should I just bypass it and run a line from the pipe directly to the wastegate actuator? (my car is really, really fast like this but I don't want to ruin anything)

Can you take pics? IIRC, the nipple on the stock piping is on the cold pipe

EDIT: WAIT! I know whats going on here. That tubing is going to your stock boost regulator/ignitor chip. That boost regulator is bypassed, ie, not needed. Just go buy some silicon hose and run a hose from the nipple to the wastegate. I don't have mine hooked up, and I know a lot of other people that don't either. Yours might be hooked up backwards, and that's why it's spiking? I don't know.

BTW... heheh, how was 20psi?

Its not that its spiking, the wastegate isnt opening at all...its just running full boost...just like if you didnt have that hose connected at all...hope you have a fuel pump and intercooler ; )
