way to pull out key w/ igntion on?

Does anyone know of a way to pull the key out of the ignition while it is turned to on without breaking the key cylinder? I'm thinking of a way to have a smart key set up so i don't have to actually stick the key in to start the car and instead just have a start button. I want to just disable the steering lock but i still want the option of being able to use the key cylinder like normal. Any Ideas? Thanks!

Just do like I did with my '98 Saturn. Put 170K miles on it with 3 tewanagers and before you know it the key will be so worn out it almost falls out
