Since Lipitor is #1 [$5 Billion in 06 sales] in US [$88-100 per month] and Zocor {$55 recently] is now off patent and generic SIMVASTATIN [Zocor] is now very recently available at Sam's Club [you don't need a membership to use pharmacy] for $8 per 30. Walmart will be adding soon. That's $80 more per month you can spend to maintain Q.
Get/twist arm your doc to write 80 mg and cut in quarters/halves yielding a $2-$4 per month cost for statins.
This plus Walmart $4 per 30 generics has lowered my Mother who is 83 meds from $154 per month to $11, yes I have to cut pills for her and put in 4 - 28 day trays. My Dad is saving almost $250 per month.
I realize many have copays and plans but many do not or their plans suck for what they pay and this is important enough to think about to waste the bits here and everywhere.45 million Americans take Statins..............some probably drive Infiniti's.
You might search where docs were being paid $100 by insurance company for each generic Simvastatin conversion "Blue Care Network in Michigan paid 2,400 doctors $2 million to switch their patients from Lipitor to a generic version of its competitor, Zocor. They were paid $100 for each patient they switched from Jan. 1 through March 31, 2007.” In other words, we’ll pay you $100 to switch your patient to a generic statin that isn’t even a generic version of what they are currently taking............
