So I decided to replace my coolant hoses, since I was doing water pump, thermostat, etc. I had somebody pick up the hoses, since I was busy working on the other stuff. Anyway, one of the hoses looked fine and the other one looked used! I took it back and they said that they dip the hoses in wax to prolong their shelf life. The problem is that this stuff is on the inside of the hoses too.
Is this common practice for hoses nowadays? Should I try to flush it out with steaming soapy water or am I just being paranoid?
