I want to wax my altima coupe today and was lookin at the Turtle Wax Ice brand. The have Liquid polish and Liquid clay bar. Do you use this stuff together? Like do you use one and then use the other? What is the difference. Any other products? Any advise would be great

I use to do the Meguiars 3 step, but last go around I tried the single application Meguiars NXT.

Looked pretty damn good and the single applications aligns well with my laziness.

One more vote for the 3 step (I love spending the time cleaning my car and the look after, so I'm ok with the commitment needed for this procedure). I've been using those products for a while. The three step system worked great on my black civic. Looks awesome on my A/C, but I have to agree with bina, black cars show the best wax jobs.

I'd like to take a moment to express my love for another Meguiars product - Gold Class Trim Detailer.

Great for the black bumper, front grill/fog area, and side mirrors.

Oh, and one more thing. About once a year, clay bar then perform the Meguiars 3 step. I swear it'll look like it rolled off the showroom.

Minus the scratches and paint chips

1st: Wash with soap and water to remove surface dirt

2nd: Claybar the entire car. This removes impurities on the paint. On a white car it helps, but black car a clay bar can work miracles, absolutely amazing.

3rd: Polish, polish is more abrasive and you want to use it before wax.

4th: Wax, wax will make your car nice and shiny and provides protection from the sun and wear and tear.

I use Black Magic Wet Shine Liquid Wax. This took the top rating in Consumer Reports testing, it is compatible with plastics and no ugly white residue.

Goes on easy & buffs off easy by hand.

2.5 - Re-wash car to get clay residue and remaining particles that have been knocked loose and moved around off.

As for a wax.. Ive always been a HUGE van of zymol for darker colors, and the meguiars gold class for light colors. (also if you have bank.. zymol makes a wax specifically designed for lighter color paints, but its 60 dollars for a 6oz can in paste form)

I like the ICE products too. They work well and are easy to apply. The claybar doesn't seem to do much but the polish and detailer are great. The only down side I have found is they don't seem to last as long as I would like. I use the ice products (car wash then polish) THEN I use 3-M Performance finish which gives a much longer lasting shine. I started this program in the early spring and it seems to be holding up really well to the heavy sunshine and weekly washings here in Central Oregon. My car is the precision grey so it is not as hard to keep looking good as those of you who purchased the black cars. My heart goes out to you cause you will always have to work very hard to keep it looking as nice as when you bought it.

I love the Meguiars Gold Class wax, it makes every car I wax look amazing...

...and for those times that I don't have 2 hours to work on my car, i use the Meguiars Ultimate Quik Detailer - it's a spray that helps to clean crap off the car and provides a nice clean shine. It says it also helps protect, but I dunno about that - it's a liquid spray bottle that you just buff off.

I have always used the gold glass from Meguiars, but i recently found yellow wax from Meguiars(forget the specific name, but you cant miss it, yellow container and all) and i think its a bit better, a little thicker, but a better shine.

I have the hole black magic line and that stuff is amazing. The black magic liquid wax combined with a random orbital buffer even makes my car shine at night.

Meguier's NXT wax allllllllll the way. I think it was about 3 months ago that I waxed my car, and everytime I wash it looks like it was just waxed. Even when the car is dirty, it still looks cleaner then just about everyone elses car if that makes any sense. Then again, my car is in the garage so I am sure that helps a bit. But still, NXT is great.

NXT Tech Wax? I picked that up and tried a couple times, but cant say i like the white residue it leaves behind like no other wax, and the tough time it gives you to take off!

It is difficult to take off for sure, but atleast for me it lasts probably 3 times longer then normal wax does/will, so its worth the extra effort. I also thought that right after my car didnt look great, but after a week or so it did.

Are you guys talking about the meguiars mirror glaze? They dont list it on their website anymore.. I wander why. I use to love that stuff until I started using zymol, definately a great second (especially since its half the cost lol!)

Edit: found it!HiTech Yellow Wax Liquid Item # YELLOW 16
