I switched over to ZAINO years ago and I'm sold on it. I have friends in the Mustang club who use it and win shows. They have soap, detail spray, polish, swirl remover....everything you need. I get mine from a distributor in Charlotte as opposed to the internet site. There is a NXS club site on the internet that did a polish test a while back and ZAINO came out on top. You could google it. (I graduated from Smith HS years ago!) Good Luck!!! Oh, and nice looking dog!

I am using Ice and very happy with shine and durability.

However it does not have any built in cleaners.

What is the best way/product to spruce up my G's finish prior to applying the wax?

thnxs

Use a claybar. It will clean your paint of tiny particles that you cant get by only washing.

Best advice is to wash the car with dishsoap (dawn works great) to remove grease and wax buildup. Then clay the car...then polish or wax.

Again, Zaino is what I recommend!

Thnxs Joe... your post led me to this link... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfEfLGL59GI

Looks like the clay bar is what I need to get into. Looking forward to the smooth, clean results.

Good tip, but polish does nothing to protect the paint. Polish removes surface imperfections and levels out the paint for that reflective shine. If you polish the paint surface you should always follow up with one-two coats of wax. Two coats are recommended simply to make sure that the spots you missed with the first coat are covered. Going beyond two coats is wasted effort and material as it will not penetrate into the paint surface.

3M plastic cleaner works well with Nissan Parts. I've searched over the net and, usually, searchers and forum members recommend it.

I've never used wax after Zaino...if you follow the instructions for Zaino, your paint will be protected just as good, if not better, than any wax.

Now I use the Z6 between coats of polish and that might be a type of wax...

I just read up on the Zaino website, it is described as a "Cleaner, Polish & Protectant" all in one product. Which to me simply means it contains a mild chemical for the cleaning, a mild abrasive for the polishing and some type of wax formulation for the protecting.

Not knocking the product, but I stand by what I said earlier. If you are using a "polish" product and not a multiple use product such as Zaino then you need to follow the polishing step with a wax product to protect your paint.

Gal that cuts my hair tells me that the combination shampoo/conditioner products are really pretty bad for your hair - wonder if the same holds true for a multi-purpose paint product? There's always a downside to the easy way out. I use a multi-purpose on my RV, but that makes sense to me as it takes hours to cover that puppy just once!!
