I just bought a Black 09 Murano and haven't applied any protectant yet on my paint. I'm thinking of waxing it, but I read somewhere that wax is an old tech when it comes to new Acrylic paint. Someone recommended Vaporwax which is an Acrylic Paint Conditioner, is this a gimmick?

I'm thinking of using NXT 2.0 paste wax from Meguiars.

I don't know about the acrylic paint conditioners, but I have used the clay bar systems, along with Mequiar's NXT 2.0 wax for all my cars. I just bought an 09 murano in the merlot color, and it looks fantastic, and the finish feels incredibly smooth. But, it is a new car. On the other hand, my wife's 2005 honda odyssey is also a red color, and these products have kept it looking like a new car. It is a red color that Honda is not producing anymore for the odyssey (the new "red" is much darker), and my wife keeps telling me that people stop and ask her if honda has re-released the earlier color, assuming that she just purchased her car.

I have also used Meguiar's deep crystal polish along with a porter cable polisher. That does a FANTASTIC job. Some people only polish the car, but I used it an intermediate step between the clay bar and waxing, and it works tremendously well. (I only do this twice a year or so, though)

Finally, last year a friend of mine worked at a luxury auto detailing company somewhere in southern california, and he said all they use is Meguiar's products, and they were detailing all the exotics- lambo, porsche, ferrari, bentley, etc.

Acrylic Paint Conditoners are a new marketing fad for the company that makes them...I've noticed that there is only one company that makes it...

http://www.ibc34.com/VaporWax.html

From the looks of what I see on the Internet, the same lines are being copied and pasted all over the place...

Here's my thing - if this new 'conditioner' was the way to go, why would all the major detailing compaines (Mother's, Meguiar's, ZAINO) still be using this awful and outdated tech? They're not...

Just going on that website for the APC makes me laugh at the marketing bull...what are all of those spider marks from? They're from THE AUTOMATIC CAR WASH. Washing your car properly by hand will never yield scratches like that...and by applying coats of wax regularly you are protecting the paint from getting those scratches...Remember, have at least 2 coats of paint on your vehicle - the base color, and the clear coat over top - it's the clear coat that everything gets applied to.

If you want to see amazing cars, check out Zaino. Their wax and polish systems are the best out there.

I have been seeing a lot of discussion about which is better, I would not call it a one company marketing fad as they sell a similar product in Norway called Sweep Shine. And its not cheap. You will have to use a translater but its essentially the same concept an non wax acrylic paint conditioner.http://www.sweep-shine.no/shop...D=188
