Recently, someone pointed out that the FSM depicts that the S13 cams are actually reversed from what is commonly believed. After looking at it for quite sometime, I realized that the intake cam is, indeed, 248 and the exhaust 240.
This, btw, is congruent to almost ALL engines, where the intake is larger than the exhaust.
When going to the longer duration S13 cams in your S14, you'll find the part throttle response a little lacking, because the S14 intake manifold has no secondary butterflies (swirl control). So, the low speed velocity at the head is even slower. Results can be lumpy idle, poor throttle response, loss of low-end torque.
Conversely, the gains are moving the power band further up the rpm range.
