Mine is starting to squeel from time and time, but no leaks yet. You can hear it through the end of a long screwdriver placed on the housing and I also took off the belts check it. It is on its way out.

How hard is it to replace? Or more exact, can you replace it with out pulling the radiator?

Is there a gasket or is it sealed with silcone? I see that Joe has the pump for $93.

Thanks for any feed back. In August in Texas you don't want to leave home without your water pump!!!!

Radiator removal not required, buy you'll probably make a big coolant mess anyway. Not a hard job otherwise. 5 bolts I think (14mm heads?). RTV sealed--a few solid hits with a rubber mallet will break it off. I like to leave the bolts threaded and loose so the pump doesn't fall off and hit something.

96.6K on the mi. It is not leaking, but occasionally chirping. When I took off the belt it whined when I turned it by hand. Not sure when the chirping started as you cannot hear it when driving or inside the car. However, when you stand in front of it outside you can hear it. Based on this board I have been regularly checking the pump as I expected it to fail at around 90K+. I had planned on replacing it and the plastic fan blades at 100K this fall (when it cools down around here) as a preventative measure. Looks like I get to sweat now! Thanks for the info on the rr.

Lots of things/systems have 100,000 mile life [as this is the design point [using the factory recommended maintenance schedule]. Not changing the coolant [turns acidic] and not using a totally organic additive package will let the heavy metal/silicate additives wear the bearings. The entire system should have been flushed 3 times by now! [90k]

Bet the radiator/heater core is not like new inside either.

I have flushed it twice. The original owner used the dealer for service, so I hope (never assume) that it was flushed at least once prior to my ownership which began at 58K mi. The original radiator cracked and was replaced at about 78K mi. so that one is not a concern here. Hopefully the heater core is in reasonable shape with the known flushes. I will flush the system when I take it down for the water pump replacement.

What is the group vote on the best flush fluid?? I have disconnected the hoses in the past and cranked the garden hose in the intake till it ran clean and clear. However, I have not chemically flushed the system.
