Put it on there, don't tighten it much, just enough to keep it on there. Start the engine. At first it should squel a little bit, then it'll tighten up in a few seconds and stop squelingskydragoness wrote: I think most techs just go for what 'feels right'
Yay lets all play the silent treatment game with PMQPoorManQ45 wrote:Why did you ignore me?
Nistech: define deflection please, in the context that you're using it if you could
Yea we dont use a tool although there is one. We pretty much get a feel for it from experiance. Initially I use to only tighten it up to have ~ 3/4 inch deflection but learned some of the cars require a slightly tighter setting to prevent them from squeeling once they break in.skydragoness wrote:Hah. Well yes, of course I ignored him.As far as the deflection, my bf put the belts on for me before he became a tech. Do Nissan techs use special measuring tools for figuring out the FSM deflection specs? I think most techs just go for what 'feels right'
I'm just glad it's not my waterpump, it's still oem, but the seals are dry as a bone and there isn't any pulley noise and x-mas is coming so i have to spend $ on people instead of my car (sigh).
