Electrical connector with "green slide tab" (from Hell). I pushed the green slide tab all the way in, it locked in place in the "in" position, then pulled the plug off of the TPS sensor. PROBLEM: Tried to REATTACH the connector to the TPS but the green tab is pushed all the way in and the plug doesn't latch onto the TPS portion of the connection. What is correct way to remove and moreover reattach this connector?

OK , looked it up on link above and it's the notorious "new for 2000 and later models" grey body connector with the green slide tab. In the Service Manual, Section EL, Page 5, it is described as a "HARNESS CONNECTOR (SLIDE-LOCKING TYPE) WATERPROOF VERSION" but the manual only describes how to remove it off a terminal (simply push slide tab in and pull connector off of the terminal). The manual states that the "HARNESS CONNECTOR (SLIDE-LOCKING TYPE)" also comes in BOTH a waterproof and non-waterproof version. Each operates completely different from each other!!! Mine is the under-hood, engine type, WATERPROOF. The manual does not say anything about resetting/re-arming/reattaching the connector. When I took it off, I pushed/slid the "green slide" with a screwdriver till it clicked and stayed fully depressed into the connector before I pulled the entire connector off of the terminal. I don't think I actually broke it. The PROBLEM is that the "green slide" won't go back to the original position (still locked in fully depressed position). I have cautiously poked around on it looking for tabs/secret passage/magic button but no luck so far! Suggestions????

I broke the only one i ever needed to remove on the driver side camshaft position sensor. It is electrical taped and wire tied in place. The worst design i've ever run into for a connector.

I hope I didn't break mine, I couldn't get it to let go till the tab fully depressed and "clicked". Any other info?

See if page EL-8 of the 2004 FSM has better instructions.

Resolved, thanks to all. I shot silicnne lube into the slide tab area and blew it out with air, shoved the whole plug onto the terminal all the way - nothing still. THEN WIGGLED the whole body of the connector while pushing it on REALLY HARD and the internal mystery release mechanism popped and the green tab popped back into the relaxed position and the connector grabbed onto the terminal. Felt like Indiana Jones. DONE. Big Smile.

Hi, I'm replacing fuel injectors on my 1999 Infiniti i30. Came across a connector missing the green slider. Does anyone know how to release the connector missing the green slider? I've tried inserting small screwdriver with no success.
thanks,
Jim
