Water temp

ok so this is the first gauge i am installing myself, the water temp sender threads into the bleeder in my koyo radiator the gauge seems to be working i was just wondering if that is a good (or bad) place for it?

I never thought of that. I guess it's k. Make sure it doesn't leak. Also, you'll have to make sure it is properly ground'd.

I have the Blitz silicone upper rad hose with opening for a temp sensor. That works just fine. You may wanna invest in one in the future. Just a suggestion.

i bought the gauge today and it didnt come with anything else (phantom 2 autometer) so i just thought of that... i dont like waiting but if you think it isnt gonna get a proper reading that i could always get that part

If the sensor threads in with ease, then it should be fine. If it leaks wrap thethe threads with teflon tape. My Mr2 has a sensor on the bottom of the rad. It works and reads just fine.

One note about that, if you place it in the bottom of the radiator your reading the water temp after it's been cooled by the radiator, and your not going to get good readings until the engine warms up and the thermostat opens.

I put mine on the water outlet on the top of the engine, so as soon as the thermostat opens I know what the water temp coming from the engine is. Still looking for a place on the block or head though, reading the water jackets directly would be the absolute best place IMO.
