water temp + speedo problem

Hey I just recently replaced my temp sensor using an oem sensor from nissan and installed a dohc ka speed sensor into the transmission replacing the clipped rb one that came with it.

My problem is that sometimes the speedo works and sometimes it wont. and when it does work sometimes it will read incorrectly (i.e. reading 45mph when im actually going 30~35)

There was a broken connector that came with my rb20 for the water temp sensor... so I replaced it but even with the new sensor the water temp gauge on my sohc cluster isnt working, laying flat @ cold on the gauge... is it because my cluster is a sohc and i am using a dohc sensor?

my cluster is working fine other than that (i.e. door ajar light, brake light, fuel gauge, etc etc

on an update note: i also tried checking the speed sensor to see if it was clogged or gunked up but it fits and spins fine
