Well I got my car running today. I'm curious about how much higher the sr water temp sensor reads over the KA. After I let the car warm up it didn't seem like the thermostat opened to circulate coolant b/c the radiator cover was not warm at alll, however the head was very warm. Should I have replaced the thermostat and water pump? Thanks in advance.

It is recommended that atleast the thermostat is replaced. However, if you are on a very tight budget it shouldn't have gone that bad. I would keep my eye on the temp gauge inside the car just to make sure.
