Will putting a brass nipple, tee, more nipples, on the water temp. Port work?
I don't know if good readings can be had from water not really flowing by thermocouple being in a dead end tee, off the port.

They gave me a 1985 Nissan pickup, 720, 2.4 L that fuel pump was thought to be bad, it was removed, and the 8 months it sat all the fuel drained out. I was putting the oem fuel pump back on when I was told it was bad, so got a after market FP, and guess what, it was the FP relay...the exhaust pipe had rusted out at the collector, got it welded.
The speedo is off by 25 mph, not yet figured why, none of the gauges work, but when starting the lights turn on then off when motor is running, looking to put aftermarket gauges and tach, and a voltage regulator....parts list show it's not built into gas gauge...so dont know yet if it's the right one.

Well, two trips to autozone for shiny tools, (oil pressure switch socket, then 1/2drive ratchet. Family kids are the worse for "borrowing a tool AND losings it)
Weird things....oil switch fit to tee fine, but the brass nipple won't fit the oil switch hole in block....now yeah heavy grease and tap, maybe run starter to cause any metal to blow out???
:ohno: Other weird thing is water temp thermo won't seal on brass coupler to the tee, what don't I know besides everything else...????
Have almost read 27 pages in this 720 thread, got side tracked on some cool build stories he he

I'd get me a book. I think the oil pressure send unit should mount directly to the block (no fittings required)
Good luck

Yeah, oil pressure won't be effected by tee, for oil pressure gauge, was keeping existing wires and sensors to not yet worry about the "computer"

It is the water temp thermocouple that The nipple, tee, oem sensor. And after market thermocouple to (for both) have numbers to watch.... really not a flow, eddy like...
I hope there is a better water temp kit out there, I might have drill a hole in the head, I don't yet see any other places to put it.

I do have a book, it's not a lot of help really, I mean it's got specs, but as it it came with the truck....
I need to find a better way got water temp, the tee causes a long lag. I have read here about using a real gauge along with idiot light.
I put water temp and oil gauge, amp meter, but now I blow the dash light fuse, even now after disconnecting the wires to gauge lights...
Changed oil, coolant, spark plugs, so should be ready for smog test in the morning. As old as this is, I know theyll be a nightmare to get sorted.
Heater switch, it ran, but not on mid speed, when I looked, a wire is broke at what looks like solder joint, this doesn't seem be part of why fuse for dash blows...
I will keep looking....but not for a couple of days, I got heat stroke yesterday (110 deg.) and after smog test deciding on what to do first.

Well, never would have seen the o-ring for fuel tank leaking, as part of the smog precheck list i did, spark plug, oil, coolant, vac hoses, air filter, egr, I failed smog because of a 2$ part...so anyway got it passed, and now the pipe I put on for a second temp gauge started leaking...I hope I didn't crack the intake manifold putting the pipe there...
Going to look when it cools down.

The threads on water temp sensors are not pipe threads that are standard.
I don't know what to do for a water temp gage that gives a temp.
Oil pressure port is pipe thread.
The fuse blowing was fix by taking off the wires I tied into for lites on aftermarket gauges, looks like I'll have to run a fused wire from batt.
The tach I put in the dash, it is a harbor freight special, and need some fuse blocks to finish install, seems the oem fuse block can't take any extra current.
I guess I should start looking at transmissions, going from first to second grinds....or third to second. I'm not willing to split the power train twice, should I try rebuilding the trans, or just find a replacement?
