I have a situation with a VG33E Pathfinder, the water temp gauge in the gauge cluster is not working, it just stays all the way down at C. This can be many things, a bad meter, a bad gauge, shorted wire, thermal transmitter, etc.

Anyways, I have read the FSM many times, and though it gives the location for the Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor (ECTS), which controls the ECM, it does not show the location for the Thermal Transmitter (Water Temp. Sender), which sends the signal to the Water Temp Gauge. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Is it next to the ECTS, or is it located somewhere else, or does the ECTS have two connectors (one for the ECM wires and one for the Gauge wire)?

Check out EL-79. It looks like it's right next to your distributor. There's some troubleshooting info on it on EL-92.

I have the 3.5 so I can't verify that, but post back if that's not the one!

This post is super old, but I am trying anyways.
I am confused about if the VG33E does have a temperature gauge sensor AND an engine temperature coolant sensor.
E.g. in this video, the two sensors are right next to each other:

In my engine (1999 pathfinder), there is only the gauge sensor though at this location (just like in the pic posted by atraudes).

I am trying my best, but I cannot seem to understand where the 22630 is supposed to be in this pic
