I'm looking at putting a "red Heat" series cyberdyne digital engine temp gauge into my 240 and locating it where the din pockets are. They do require a separate sender and it has 1/8 th inch pipe thread. How would I adapt this to the stock sending unit on the car? Are there metric to standard adapters in hardware stores or am I going to have to tap the manifold to use this? Has anyone else ever used these gauges?

what lots of ppl do for after market gauges is get an electronic one and tap into the stock sensor wiring. you can also get a rad hose adapter with a sensor bung

frsport.com has a DIF waterneck adapter which has a 1/8 npt fitting - i believe they also have a Stance brand also . . . the DIF comes with groove and seal though..... (its for sr though)

put an adapter in your rad hose if nothing else - looks ghetto, but whatever..

are u using the electronic or the mechanical gauges in ur car? i see 2 electrical (one that goes up to 280, one that goes to 240) and 1 mechanical. i dont know the differences n ive always wanted to do this.

also, yashio factory had a fitting for a water temp gauge in that super sexy pink color. u can pick that up too.

my water temp is electronic b/c of the 1/8 npt fitting that came with it. i believe the mechanical one came with a 1/4 npt fitting or something

Are the ultralite 2's digital? All I saw on the autometer site were the analog gauges. I wanted red digital ..mostly because all my radio buttons are red ..and the dials digital..so it would blend in very well. I also wanted black bezels to fit in with the black felt I've got on the din "cover" I made. Are digitals as accurate as analogs ? I DO want something that is really functional. If analogs are more accurate the es series by autometer looked kind of nice and were a good buy. I think I'll go with the "in Hose" adapter from frsports. I have an sohc and it can't get anymore ghetto*lol*. I'll just have to locate it higher up on the hose. Thanks for the help! I had just found the cyberdynes on the Jeds site...had never heard of the brand and wondered if they were decent gauges....

they come in mechanical (analog) and electrical - if i'm not mistaken, electrical usually put out a smoother and more accurate reading . . .

check this video out . ..
