I'd like to replace my waterpump just as a precaution and sound of mind. I've read that rb 20/25/26 pumps were all universal but, looking around i find sites specifying only rb20 and then some specify only 25/26. So does anyone know which is which? Also, curious to know what will be involved in replacing the pump since my motor has already been installed in my car. Would this also be a good time to replace the timing belt as well?thanx for any type of help available.

I dont know about the pumps being interchangeable(sp?) but as far as going ahead and changing the timing belt at the same time it would prolly be a good idea. The water pump is mounted to the block behind the timing belt so you might as well. I have also heard some people say they swapped the idler and tensioner pulleys when they did this. I think you will probably have te remove the radiator, A/C cooler if you have one, and anything else in the way. It looks like you would be able to pull it through the opening in the radiator support bracket.

yes... if you are changing the water pump you might as well change the timing belt. it needs to be removed anyway, so it doesnt hurt to throw a new one on at all.

additional things are: removing crank bolt, crank pulley, fan clutch(prolly not there anymore), timing cover, timing belt, tensioner, idler. Then you can get to the water pump. its just held there by some bolts and a liquid gasket
