I'm new on this forum, so if this post should go elsewhere....sorry.

My wifes' '94 Q 45 has a coolant leak and I found coolant leaking(intermitantly..leak one day and maybey not the next), from bottom ofthe water pump. I have replaced a few pumps on small black chevys but this ain't no chevy. How difficult is it? A repair manual, like chiltons/haynes etc would help alot, but I looked at Auto zone and they didn't have one nor was one listed in the Haynes repair manual index. A picture would beworth a few hundred words at least. Anyone willing to "talk me through it" if there aren't any repair manuals available? Thanks,Mike

Do a search on water pump and you'll get some descriptive threads. Be sure to replace the thermostat at the same time.

Mike, for a repair manual, go to http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/infiniti/ and get a one day subscription and download an Acrobat formatted version fo the manual for your Q45. Don't forget to get teh TSB also while you are there. Navigation is a little obscure, but the information is invaluable.

Welcome to the club. You are correct, it is no SBC!

It's fairly straightforward, just more things to remove before you get to it. I recommend removing the radiator to minimize risk of damaging any fins. The pump is held on with 5 bolts and some RTV. The thermostat is right below the pump under a metal housing. You can get both for much less than what your local dealer charges from one of our parts sponsors, like Scottsdale Infiniti.

Let me ask you Maxnix, when you get the one day subscription, can you download the whole FSM? When you download it, can you save it as a .pdf file, or do you have to print it out right away?I'm thinking of doing the fuel pump and some other stuff this spring and it would be nice to have the FSM on hand.

Yes, the various sections of the manual are linked pdf files.

Be sure to get the TSB also, and the owner's manuals do not require a subscription.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

THanks for the info and the leads for repair manual(s). The more I read the more I think I can do the replacement. Is there a gasket I will need for the pump or is it RTV only? BTW, can I use regular old permatex blue RTV or should I look for a "special" sealant?I may have some more Q's as I get nearer to doing the job.Great forum, I feel as at home here as I do on the '69-'72 Chevy truck forum!Mike

RTV is the only gasket, on both the pump and the thermostat housing. Permatex blue will work just fine.
