Someone told me that replacing the water pump requires dropping the engine. I cant find anything to support this claim. Not really a single topic on probs with replacing it? I assume its not that big of a job. Thanks for any info. Lorne

Well you could just use the FSM which is available to NICO club members. Look about 5 to 6 pdfs down its labeled CO for Coolant Operating system and you'll find a how to on page 23.

Or you could just pull the engine because it would be soooooo much easier to change out at that point. I pulled the engine on my VW a while back and a 3-4 hour timing belt job was accomplished in 20 minutes.

Not sure if this is applicable here, but the engine shouldn't be removed at all unless you are doing an engine swap or engine rebuild. So to access the Water pump, you could remove other parts. I just really don't see the point of removing the engine at all, as it requires lots of work to do... just remember that. Like Rogue Jarhead said, you can use the FSM that is available for all members.

In case you guys are like me,and you didn't read, the link to the FSM I posted above no longer works. It seems NISSAN has revoked the right of NICO Club to have access to the Field Service Manual.
