hi there, new to this forum. i had a bead water pump. and i am its winter up here. when i tried to install the new pump, one of the bolts will not thread in. part of old bolt must of broke off. its the upper left ear on the water pump.

the bolts are long so i don't think i can see to get a center punch on it and drill and ez out the nub. i an concerned about drilling too far in and ruining the block.

any advice or suggestions?

the only thing i can think of is to dertermine the size of the hole, get a tap that will thread the hole, drill out the ear on the new pump, and install.

thanks for any help, nakona1

Are you 100% positive that all the bolts are going back in their proper holes? Otherwise, I believe that the bolt in question should ALSO have a bracket to hold several vacuum hoses mounted. If that bracket is not there, the bolt may bottom out automatically. Before taking a power-tool to your block, double check EVERY possibility and get a scope or a light into that hole and check. Another option, if none of that helps, is get a shorter bolt...

If it is broken off, assuming you can get a decent bite, I would just cut the bolt a tad shorter and let it ride...
