Welll the topic describes what this is about... My water pump is leaking, and the mech said i need to change it like yesterday.... Im upset, cause i just threw away 1 grand on trash not needed.. So to make tthis sad story short, he said to replace my water pump is 225-250$ Ive read on here, it can be done easily, but i see no write ups.. i tried looking on q45.org, but was confused with the site. Has a write up been done for this car yet?? If so where? If not, someone wanna do a small write up for me so maybe i can do it this weekend by myself. Some of yous know me, if u think im toooo NooB to do this myself, Id rather u say " Romeo5k let the mech do it"...But i feel like if i can save money , i will try to.

Between R&R a water pump and Plugerville, I'd take the water pump, and I am only 10 minutes away.

WEll... i went ahead and got the water pump paid for... he mech said he would give me a deal.. Says Water pump, Fluid, and belts = 245$ He said taht was brotherly price.. I dont know how true that is, but it seems about right! Then im paying 425$ for the driver side Valve cover. So, I guess, i have no choice.. Depends on how much money i have after this, will determine if ill be out there next week!

We [T3] charges less than $600 for both valve cover reseal and we replace the spark plugs at no labor cost as a bonus [customer pays retail for plugs].

If TCS or ACTIVE add $85 due to more time consumming.

Be sure you get new thermostat and new belts at the same time as water pump replacement unless they are only 1 year old.

All about minimizing the total expense over more than a few years.Spend some now to save more in the future.....................drive safely so you don't total your savings.

aint that about a <censored>Thats cheap for Valve covers compared to what he charging me.. He is charging 425 for drivers side, 250 for Pass side, and thats NOT replacing plugs.!!!I just told him about the thermostat, and he said thats a whole nother job, and thats a different labor, and that they are not messeing with the thermostat. And it should not cause anything diff to the car... So, beause im kinda werking on a budget, i dont need all dat extra stuff.!! The name brand on the Pump is Airtex.. i dont know if thats any goot, but lemme know..

Airtex are brand new not reman. Not as good as oe IMO.Your only kidding yourself going to a "general mechanic".Good luck, hopefully he knows how to purge your cooling system.

He is the only one everyone recomended on here... If u can remember, i messed up my 93Q going to the dealerships, till i was told on here to go back, and judge the age... The results were, everyone in there were the age of 30 or lower.. definately no more.. So that summed up that no one knew what they were doing.. The judged a spark plug coil and a spark plug, but actually a Injector.. Engine went to hell... and i was out of a beautiful Q. I asked around again, and someone on here referred me to this shop, but to a specific person.. The person left, but was said that another guy named Jack, knows his stuff too, and that he could do it as well. Only reason im letting him is because he has about 6-7 of Qs 3or 4 running, others are parted or accident. No one else in houston. Now unless there is a mech on here from Houston TX, im not taking anymore chances.. I promised my woman i would not buy another Q if i messed this one up. Because I invested alot in the other, and im doing the same again in this one.!

I do understand u r looking in the best interest in me, but unfortunately, im not lucky enough to be like the rest of you who have someone down the street who is on nico, and knows their <censored>. SO until then, im dealing with wat i have, its better than the Dealership, and beter tahn the 1 mile mech who fixes on hondas and GMC all day, but doesnt really have the utensils to work on my car. He has another Q taht he killed still in his yard. He stilll doesnt know what went wrong.. and its been 3 years!!

of course i could do these things myself, but sometimes, id rather not. Imagine this.. it took me 6 hours to replace the Window motor/regulator on the front passenger side of my 95Q.. some ppl do it in 30 mins with no water break. Other first timers did it in 2hrs. So to not break notheing, all i do on here is ask for advice, and telll the mech wat to do within my budget. And watch him to make sure he does what u all say.

Water pump, done and complete!
