In an effort to extract every last hp, im going to be running an electric water pump plus this isnt a daily driver anyway so why not.

Question is im wondering if any one for sure knows more or less what the flow rate is for the stock pump, ie. gallons per minute.

I know a small block chevy flows about 25-30 gallons per minute at 6000 rpm.

Reason i ask is I have several choices for electric water pump size 35 , 40, and 55 gallons per minute.

Any thoughts?

And FYI the mustang and camaro guys are picking up a solid 10-15 whp.

I went the electric pump method to simplify my conversion and gain some HP as well. I could not find a flow rating any where for the VH45DE engine, but since allot of the pump manufactures rate the pumps in engine HP, I felt comfortable since most were in the 300hp range. Take care to study the flow of the coolant in the VH45DE engine, it has some unique bypass built into the thermostat housing. The manual is not bad at showing this, but take a close look the area behind the pump and thermostat. That's why I built my own pump adapter rather then running the pump in line in one of the rad hoses.I did all of the planning of this part some months ago and I may have forgotten some of the details, but that's what I recall. I have too many things on the go with hti s project. If you scroll about half way down http://www.cardomain.com/ride/563982 you will see what I ended uo making. Let me know what you come up with.So now I go back to the garage ...............
