I am in a battle in my mind over which little power add I should go with. I have just got done Building a pretty stout S13 SR and its primary use is drag racing. I am now trying to decide which is going to be the best power adder/ safest/ best in cost effectiveness. Basically any input anybody has that might be running water/methanol would be great, and how much of a horsepower gain you've seen, thanks for any help.

Meth. Injection..... Refill is like 2 dollar for a gallon of washer bottleGain between 10-80+ whp. All depend on the gas being usesd, how much boost and intake temp.

Nitrous goes kaboom when not install right but will be the more power adder that u will need

I don't see why. Meth makes it safer to run nitrous

Meth just allows you to run more boost without detonation. If you dont have a local race shop around to get the meth from, you can get denatured at home depot for $13/gallon. You can get better HP #'s with meth as opposed to straight fuel. But, you have to spend alot of time tunning. Meth burns at a very low AFR around 6.7 where fuel burns best at 14. You can pull fuel if you have the capabilities and add meth. You will have to pull alot more fuel then add meth since the AFR differences are so great. If your not getting into it that crazy, you can just add a little meth and turn the boost up and tune your AFR accordingly.

As for nitrous. I think its a bad idea. You'll break something eventually. These motors came factory with turbos and are set up to run boost. Not nitrous. You can run nitrous and meth as i explained above, meth is just like race gas not a power adder. A 50 shot to get off the line is all i would ever use.

Just run race gas instead of meth. No worries of a solenoid going bad and destroying your engine. Nitrous isnt bad if you know what your doing. Gatecrasher on Freshalloy runs a 50 or 75 wet shot on his 2871R .86 setup. Stock block with an apexi HG for safety. He runs an Enthalpy tune with it.

I don't know anyone ever having an issue (I personally know between 10-15 people with it) with a Water Injection Pump, whether it be the Aquamist pump (same as J/R and other brands) or the SMC deririved pump (used in other application as well). I think the longest right now is a FWD Sentra friend mine...he's been using his for 25,000 miles, and does roughly 5-6 HPDE's a summer with it, including D/D.

Remember it only sprays for a short time, and isn't always running.

Also, it's SO much cheaper. Heck, 99 cent windshield wiper fluid does the trick. You could buy 7 bottles of that for one gallon of race gas.

As far as usage, a full on HPDE day will go through about a half gallon (thats 5 30 minute sessions of darn near WOT). Just street driving about once a month you'll need to put another 1/2 gallon in.

However, with all of that said, none of us use it for 'more power', we namely due it as a deterrent to detonation at our current level, and also for those hot humid summer HPDE days when you're flogging it.
