I mean.... do we REALLY need them?

My install and problems would be easier and less if I could just cap off the lines in the block and ditch the things period.

That should help keep coolant temps down a bit more too right since it doesn't have to take the heat out of the turbo? I do have a turbo timer so oil will still be flowing through the turbo to help cool it down, but I just don't really see why is it is imperative to keep the water lines....

Thoughts?

Joe,

Where in the hell were you when I was preaching to everyone to trash the water lines. They are more of a hassle than they are a positive effective measure.

I advise against that. You are correct that it is not necessary if you have a turbo timer but it is a good feature to have to keep your turbo kicking for years to come.

That reminds me, my brother has coolant coming out of his turbo on his DSM, what does that mean  ?

ive always heard that the coolant is a good idea if your running a BB turbo, but its not really needed for regular turbos, is this true Dee?

that water hardly will cool the turbo , if any thing it will make it harder for the system to cool the coolant.

People put them on because they want to protect their expensive investment. We've heard stories of people who have the white smoke coming out of their car's and not knowing the reasons, right! Well, when your little turbo's cartridge takes a crap from the constant temperature changes you risk a chance at cracking the cartidge's housing allowing the water and oil to escape into the dump area, thus causing the burning of oil and water. I recommend scrapping them! I've scraped many a customer's water lines SR20s and CAs alike and the results favorable in the fact there was no adverse reaction in the performance of the turbo.

Dee.....

Do you know the thread pitch of the little coolant block in the block? I guess I will have to go and get a cap to cap it off with.
