My car never had the front speakers...the amp and case is there, but the speakers were gone. The drivers side has always collected water somehow. Not just a little either...but an inch tall pool in the bottom. I stuffed paper towels in there to soak everything up, but I finally decided to just take the door panel off and take out the case.

There are no cracks anywhere in the case, no holes, etc....there is no water in the door or anywhere else, so I dont know how the water is getting in.

Any suggestions?

window strips or the mirror.. not really sure.. take the door panel off and close the door.. get some one to hose it down with water and get a flash light.. start looking.. good luck.. let me know if you find it.. first time of hearing this in my 20 years on working on cars.. :gotme

Its just the nature of cars to get water into the middle of the door, which is why there are drain slots and holes in the bottom of the door. There shouldnt be a ton of water, of course, but it is a common issue. They make "speaker baffles" to put on the back of the speaker so it doesnt get wet, but the Q speakers are already enclosed in the BOSE case. I just dont see any place where the water can leak into the case because there are no holes or cracks.

The water does drip down from the window track though, which was exactly what I thought. It does the same on the passengers side...noticed a bit more water in the door on that side, but strangely enough there is no water inside the speaker case.

I am thinking of putting thick plastic sheeting behind the speaker case, that way the water will just roll off so theres no way for water to get inside it....I assume somehow its making its way through the back of the case....maybe there the small bolts are. Not sure.

That's how it came from the factory.

Mine didnt....neither did my 94. The plastic sheet is there in tact between the door frame and the door panel...all adhesive in tact and looks like it was never touched. The speaker cases were torqued pretty good on both of my Q's, suggesting it was like that from the factory...neither has plastic behind the speaker case itself.

Its water dripping off of the window track. Swapped out the speakers just to find out the amps are shot....so I will be swapping the entire units out.

I know this is an old thread, but I have the exact same problem now on my 2001 Pathy: water dripping from speaker pass side and soaking the floor.

I took the door panel off and the water was pouring inside the door when I put the hose to the pass side window. So I saw the rubber that is supposed to keep the majority of the water out wasn't. I sort of bent it back(very stiff, old). So I really cut down the amount that went into the panel but it seemed like the small amount that still got in went right for the area above the speaker and in between the plastic sheet and the inner door panel.
I have this car in Costa Rica and will go back to the USA and get the parts but I really need to get it right the first time
So any advise is GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks
