water leak bad

I have looked through the archives and I havent seen nething like this. I have a 96 infiniti I30 and where the leak is almost right behind the water pump. The question is what to do with the timing chain when I pull off the pump Im that far now so nehelp would be much appreciated. I am going to replace the pump but still trying to dig deeper because im not exactly sure if thats what it is????? also trying to find mechanics guide it would help alot more, thanx james
