some time ago i've read someone has had a problem with water inside the trunk sitting in the bottom of the spare tire well. i have the same prob. i pulled out a little rubber seal in the bottom so it can drain but couldn't figure out where it's coming from. than i noticed that the left wheel well has some kind of a vent in it and i'm thinking maybe that's it. wouldn't worry too much about it but we've had rain for a month now and no end to it in sight.

anyone had the same issue?

You might want to just take the car to a car wash and spray around to see if you can find the general area of the leak.

I'd suspect trunk lid seams before anything down low--water drains rearward from the car in large amounts and inevitably ends up in the seam. If any of the rubber seal is bad you'll get water in the trunk.

If you have a trunk spoiler, that could also be the culprit.

no spoiler, i also checked the rubber and when i open the wet lid water drains without getting into the trunk. good idea with the car wash though.

you know what i also noticed? i think that left wheel well vent inside the trunk opens when i drive and water gets in. the carpet is wet only on the left side and that vent is a little "screen" that hangs on a hinge and flaps loose.

one more thing...there is a small plastic handle in the right bottom corner in the trunk where the bottom and back of the seat meat. any idea what it's for? i don't think the back folds...and i don't think it's the emergency trunk release.

You should check in the gutters of the trunk (where the water goes out) see if there is any cracks or holes. My girl has the same problem it took me forever to find it but it was a very small crack in the metal where the water was coming in it was extremly hard to see but when i sealed it up it stopped. Water is a funny thing it allways wants to go down so even the slightest hole/crack and thats where it goes.
