Just so long as your air intake is above water you should be fine - a friend had a cold air intake on an ex cop car Caprice that went straight down in front of the engine and sucked air in from under the front bumper. The car ran much better until they had a big rain storm - he lives in Vegas so that dosent happen all that often... so he's driving along and hits a huge puddle and sucked in a bunch of water and effectively "shortened his piston rods" locked the motor up and had to rebuild - cracked crank, bent rods, broken rings, punch the cylinders .040 over due to the scratches from the rings... needless to say never drive through a puddle with a cold air intake unless you know for sure that it will remain above the water line and you won't splash too much water into it.
