Has anyone had the problem of water in the headlight? I have had the car since August and this is the first time it's happened. I can't see how the water got in. Do anyone know of a way to get it out without taking the whole assembly out..????

There is a TSB on it ... yes, it has been known to happen to a few cars. There is a condensation drain hole and sometimes this can get blocked too.

I don't have the TSB handy, but I will look for it.

While buying my '06 M35 a few weeks ago, the dealership warned me that the headlight surround might get condensation inside. They too said that if it happens, I should take it into the dealership, because if I tried to fix it myself, I could easily ruin the headlights...which they priced at $2500.

Granted, I was sceptical I could actually ruin the headlights, but while it's under warranty...didn't bother to question it.

If you get the condensation cleared up, let us know what had to be done to fix it.

Thanks and i appreciate it. I was online all weekend and i couldn't find anything about the headlight having a drainhole. But i did run across the price of the headlight assembly, $900-$1200. So I guess i'll take the headlight out and check it out when it gets a little warmer.

Okay, correction. I mis-remembered the TSB. It is not a drain hole, but the headlight assembly is vented to the atmosphere, so does get moisture inside. The TSB talks about what is normal amounts and what is not, but does not address what to do if the condition is not normal.

Here it is for reference ... you might want to talk to the dealer about it, I suggest (is your car still under warranty or extended warranty?).

I have two what look to be flys in my brake light if it makes you feel any better. They look wierd cause the sun has taken its toll on them so they look albino. Gives me a reason to work on the car though so I'm okan with it. Hopefully I can get them unstuck and cleaned up without having to bake the lense apart.

They will tell you to leave the headlights on for a while in a dry place and the heat should evaporate the water. You can just pull the bulbs out(whichever you can get to easiest) and let the car sit over night in a warm/cool dry place like a garage or something, that should get most of it out.Cheers

I was thinking about taking the bulbs out and blowing a little air in to get rid of some of the water. I use to do it on the Stang and there was never a problem. I just don't want the lens to turn that funky brown color. I hate that
