water in front AVM camera lens

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

a few days ago i noticed what it seemed like my front AVM camera was shaking while viewing it on the nav screen. i checked out the camera, its not loose and has no visible damage too it but it does have a drop of water inside the lens. i have not taken it to the dealer yet but i was curious if anyone has had the same problem??

thanks Ron

That doesn't sound "normal" to me - those cameras should be sealed units and no water should get in. I wouldn't wait too long to bring it into service. In fact, you might consider dropping off there to show the service manager ASAP, just in case it dries up before you can book it in.

Cheers,David

That's interesting. I have yet to see or hear of any significant concerns with these cameras. They have been using these since 2002 and even the old ones have very few issues.

What has the weather been like there in your neck of the woods? I've seen them get foggy during moderate temperature transitions, but never to an actual measurable amount of water. The lens covered by a small fish eye lens and if you can see an imperfection in the sealant than the camera is suspect and should be replaced without issue by the dealer.

well i live in chicago so the weather drastically changes day to day haha

but i noticed the water in the lens after a few days of raining here...but i've washed this car many times and survived through the winter with no problems, but i'll be taking into the dealer on monday even though the water dried out the residue left by the water is still there and i cant see well out of that camera
