Hello, everyone!

I just received my turbo from a rebuild shop and found that replacement center section is watercooled. I didn't ask for this upgrade, and didn't pay for it as well. I want to use this useful feature but not sure which hose to splice into. I know that the best cooling line to use is the one that goes to thottle body. The one I see is only about 1/4 in. maybe even 3/16 inside diameter, the thing is that I'm not sure that's the right one. The other one is about 1/2 in. inside diameter and goes under intake manifold.

So which one is it: 1 or 2?

Thanks.

Run a hose from the throttle body coolant line to the turbo. It is the ideal sizing anyways.

I know it has to be coolant line for TB, but which hose is it.Apparently #1 is a vacume line. The manual says nothing about coolant line for TB.

Any more ideas?

Thanks. That's a copper tubing 3/8 inch in diameter with compression fittings of the turbo end. On the other end I just slip them into rubber hose and tightened them with small clamps. The tubing was bent using pipe bender.

5 ft. of tubing ~$6.00Fittings ~$5.00

Very nice clean install.

What type of fittings did you use for connecting to the turbo? Size? I'm looking for some for my z31 T3 and I don't really know where to get them.

#1 is where coolant passes through the throttle body (unless I have the pic wrong), and it is cool to use for a coolant line.

You've got the pictures right, I have cut into that line right above TB. I think it worked out just fine.

Mishka, do you have a pic of where you connected to the lines under the throttle body? Your other two pics you posted were really clear and good so I was looking for the starting point as a reference for when I do mine.

Thanks

I'll take some pictures tomorrow.

As for fittings go to ACE store or any hardwear store take your turbo with you and try as many fittings as you need, ask for assistance if needed. In my case I needed 2 90 degree connectors with 3/8 in. pipe thread on one end (turbo) and 3/8 in. compression on another (copper pipe).

Use teflon tape on all "pipe thread" connections, don't use any of that stuff on Flared or Compression type connections.

Perfect, thanks for the advise. I'll check the hardware store. The Z31 turbo I have must have larger holes. I did a quick measurement and the holes look like they are around 18mm, hopefully I can find something. Appreciate you trying to get a pic also.

Thanks again.

Why not use the block drain plug and tap back at the heater return?
