i got the car with it making this whining sound. i'm about 99% sure it's coming from the water pump. it's a high pitched whine that sounds like a pulley bearing or something and changes with rpm. i don't hear it on the road, only at idle. the car supposedly has a new N1 pump. cooling on the motor is fine and never sees above 94-95c max. sooo...just curious if the high flow pump normally makes noise or not? btw it's a rb25

Could be or your timing belt could be too tight.

so got a stethoscope and it's deff coming from the timing belt. it's only got maybe 2k miles on it. so i'm guessing i need to adjust the tensioner? or will the belt break in on it's own?
