Wouldn't the smaller holes in the headgasket only allow get greater water pressure on top of the block? What good would the higher pressure be above the block only?

ITS JUST TO KEEP WATER PRESSURE EQUAL THROUGH OUT THE ENGINE. IF THE WATER WASN'T FORCED THROUGH SMALLER PATHS AT SOME POINT IN ITS TRAVEL IT WOULD LOSE PRESSURE.
