The hose you are talking about on the right side coming out of the air filter housing is the hose that connects to the secondary air system. It sends fresh air into the exhaust manifold which is controlled by the PAIR soleonid valve.
I was refering to the emission hose on the other side and attached to the MAF housing, it is right next to a smaller hose also attached to the MAF housing. The smaller hose is the atmospheric vacuum line for the swirl, egr/cannister and pair valve soleonid valves.
Getting back to the emission hose, it connects to a metal tube which connects to the air regulator and the IACV unit. I thought the replacement hose I used might be too large in diameter so I went with another hose in the same diameter as the original.
As it turns out the hose had nothing to do with the engine idling high or hard to start, what happened is I cleaned the throttle body BEFORE I replaced the hose and I believe I sucked crap into the air regulator and idle adjustemnt.
I know this because when I pinch the hose to the air regulator while the engine is idling, the RPM's drop significantly. So this weekend I will have to pull off my air regulator and also my idle adjustment and clean and test them.Ken
