See the thread here, this is EXACTLY the same as the mod performed on a JX35.

You MUST have the Platinum Premium Pkg for this to work as described in this thread. There are a lot of SL Pathfinders with rear headrest DVD screens, but they are different than the screens on the Platinum Premium Pkg.

Here is the link, post up any questions, and enjoy!

I still believe that a headrest monitor is better than overhead one, because it will be much safer and will not disturb the drivers. so I got this for my car. http://www.justcardvd.com/products/9-in ... stem-.html

So are the screens in the SV and SL not capable of displaying video at all? I have the SV with read DVD headrests and would love to be able to mod the front screen. I figure if it can show the camera it can show the video. I assume I would need to connect the rear DVD to the monitor first since I can't even get the video to play on the front monitor in park w/ parking brake applied.

Yes, that is the issue, on those trim levels the screens are basically independent of the front Nav screen. It can be done, but certainly there is a lot more work and at a higher expense.

ok so on the SL and SV models the instruction given on the other post won't work. If i have to guess the same steps will work on the SV as long as you have the AV Manual no?

I tried to look for the plug with that manual and match it with your post, found the only plug with 16 pins but the colors and locations of the wires are different... here is a thought, I'm think if i can get a PEN TESTER i can find the Ebrake and the VSS with it some how no? once i find it proceed with the modification you did on your JX. Thoughts?

I finally did it!!Got the pen tester and found the Ebrake and the VSS.. they are located on the same plug (on the bottom right) looking at the AV unit from the back. The cables are dark green (Ebrake) and grey (VSS) located on the bottom right looking at the plug from the front!... all i did was cut the VSS cable and put tape on it and the Ebrake i cut it and put a ground on it, on the one connected to the radio of course... Thats all! i don't need to worry about the VSS since i don't have NAVI.

Now all i need is a DVD player
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictures ... ture_id=-1

connect it to the AUX plugs and is a wrap! and if i ever get the headrest screens i'll connect them together, ill probably won't do it my self..

GOOD LUCK GUYS ((2013 Pathfinder SV))

OK so I just did this mod on my Pathfinder Platinum non-premium. Here is what I learned and a quick guide for someone trying to do this on their pathfinder.

Dissassembly
1. Remove the black plate that is at the bottom of the stereo controls above the 12v, it pulls straight down.
2. Remove the black plate that is right below the screen above the dial, it pulls straight up. Might need something to pry it up with.
3. Remove the screw that you have exposed under the upper black plate.
4. Remove the faceplate with the dial on it by pulling out, just work your way around the outside with your hands. Unplug all the wires.
5. Remove the two screws on the lower plate that you have just exposed, then the lower plate will pop out straight towards you, pretty easily. Unplug all the wires.
6. Remove the 6 screws for the AV control box 4 above the box on the brackets, and two below.
7. Pull out the AV box and remove the plug that is in the UPPER RIGHT if you were looking at it from the back.

Wiring
I used 18-22ga butt connectors and 20ga wiring for all parts.
1. Assuming you want to keep your navigation working you will need a switch, I bought a Double Pole Double Throw (DPDT) from Radio shack that had a large toggle switch on it and no center off.
2. Prewire all the leads to the switch before you start working in the car. I soldiered mine, but I think in cars you are supposed to use slide on connectors.
3. The way these switches work is that there are basically two internal switches that are controlled with one throw. Mine was arranged 123 on one side 456 on the other, where the switch would either connect 1-2 and 4-5 OR 2-3 and 5-6. You want the wire going to the AV unit on 2 and 5, the ground on 1 and 4 and the power on 3 and 6 or vice versa. Make sure that your ground is on the same side on both throws or you will get them working opposite of each other.
4. Tie your two grounds together into one end of a butt connector, tape that up and have the other end attached to a lead that ends in an eye connector. You will eventually connect this to the top screws that hold the av unit in place when you re assemble.
5. Cut the wire for connector 53 and 70 about .75" from the plug. See the AV manual to make sure that you have the correct wires. They are the green one that is 5th in (but there are no wires in the first 4 holes) and the blue grey one (more grey) that is below it and one more towards the center.
6. Trim back .25" and connect butt plugs to both ends of both wires.
7. Connect the connector ends of each to the middle channels on your switch, and the wire lead ends to the end ones that arent atached to ground.

Plug everything in at this point without assembling (apart from one screw on the AV center for the ground lead) and test. If you put in a DVD and the picture comes on without your parking brake on then it works, toggle your switch and the picture should turn off. Or if there is no pic, toggle the switch and see if it comes on.

I hope this helps!

Hello lgestrella,

I cut the vss. I also cut but repatched the pkbrake as I could not get a proper ground. Any suggestions where you connected it. Also your post is a year old, any problems with this type of connection?

One more question, DVDs from Walmart are not recognized by the player, any thoughts?

After "HOURS" of searching I finally came up with this solution for my 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum. Do not really want to spend the money but on the other hand do not want to start cutting wires in new vehicle only to find out it doesn't work. Hope this helps!

I wish I saw this thread before going through the process of bypassing the motion lockout. I was ready to document my process but seeing as this thread exists, I'll be brief. To clarify, this bypasses the DVD restrictions, USB restrictions, AV input restrictions, and navigation input restrictions.

I have a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum /w Bose but no rear entertainment. The PDF's below were crucial.
http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Pathfinder/ ... athfinder/

I'll first start by saying the connector with the wires you need are connected to the AV control unit, not the screen. The AV control unit is located just below the screen. For the platinum trim, the PDF file AV.pdf on page 410 lists the connector configuration. (If you have a different trim, your connector will be on an earlier page of this PDF) The parking brake wire (dark green) and the vehicle speed wire (grey) are pins 53 and 70 respectively. The diagram states beige for the speed wire but it was grey in my case. If you don't ground the speed wire, your video will cut out over 5 mph.

I used this Youtube video to remove the head unit and associated panels. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sKmrP55x6k The lower controls must also be removed by pulling out and up. After pulling it straight out a little I pushed in 2 tabs on the bottom then lifted the unit up.

I also used PDF IP.pdf on page 25 to learn how to remove the drivers side lower instrument panel. It was a major pain. PWO.pdf on page 33 described how to remove the AC 120V outlet switch which helped for removal of the blank switch where I added my new switch.

You should use a DPDT switch to ground the parking brake and vehicle speed wire. This allows you to resume normal functionality or switch on the bypass. When grounding the speed wire, your navigation will not function. I grounded these wires to a screw next to the switches. It is wise to use a multimeter throughout the process to verify continuity. (Test ohms) My first switch went bad on me and if not done right your splices may end up loose.

The switch I used was purchased off Amazon. It did require me to sand the sides down but no adhesive/glue to keep it in place. To keep it brief, the switches push out of the front of the switch panel but behind the front facing panel.

I've included some pictures for visual help.

I have one more piece of advice. When removing the instrument panels around your AV unit and screen, you will disconnect the passenger airbag light. This caused the airbag light to flash on my dash and the passenger airbag light to remain lit in the off position. I followed these instructions to reset the error code and all is well. https://enginepartsdiagram.com/reset-ai ... athfinder/
