invest in some good coilovers.

if your loaded get a 2way lsd

if your broke like the rest of us get your diff welded.

If you have an open diff your gonna want a vlsd. Or if your more hardcore about it and its gonna be mostly a drift car, then you might want to weld it instead (cheaper, but they both have their ups and downs, i personally prefer a vlsd)

If your suspension is all stock, its probably all shot. If you cant afford a set of coilovers, try to find a cheap used set of struts and springs.

its also not a bad idea to replace your tie rods, even if its just with new bushings, cause that makes a big difference on these ancient cars. new tie rods will also give you way better steering feel and wont take a s*** on you. A lot of aftermarket ones come with spacers to give you more steering angle, thats also a +

another cheap thing you can do is get subframe collars. They are like $60 for solid ones and will get rid of the annoying CLUNK you get stepping on and letting off the gas too hard. It will reduce all that play and put more power to the wheels

if you have $250, suspension techniques sells a good pair of thicker adjustable swaybars which also comes with new bushings and endlinks. This will help a lot reducing body roll

If your learning, have good tires up front.
and buy USED tires for your rear.

NOt so sure about that, iv seen many aftermarket tie rods snap way easier than the stockers.

like stated if you have the money get a 2way or 1.5 what ever you prefer. if not and are on a budget welded. vlsd is ok. after a run or so if its older will act like an open. i have a vlsd and it sometimes acts up. due to higher miles.

Welded if your more serious about drifting. Welded will lock better then VLSD.

But vlsd is nice for daily driving.

Correct welded would be better.

2way would be best.... if you can afford $800 for a 2way that is.

Make sure the car runs good.

I've had a few friends drift a stock s13 only with a welded, and they did it DAMN good!

But coilovers would be next i'd say.

Bro have you ever gone to an event? If not, weld the diff and go to some events. You dont need a crazy awesome car to drift. You as a driver is more important then any mod that you can put on your car.

Don't even think about forced induction until you have:

- Coilovers
- Some kind of differential OTHER than open (stock) or vlsd
- Full suspension tune-up/rebuild/upgrade
- A bucket seat
- A better clutch
- Wheels wider than stock/better tires
- A few events under your belt

When you've done that, then focus on more power.

my friend broke one of his teins after drifting on it 3 times. maybe it was a fluke, maybe not, but i wont be buying teins. he has been using stockers for a year now and drifts every weekend. they still havent broke.

Suspension first, then lsd. Then save a ton of money for tires and events.

Some Useful Advice:

Start in a STOCK CAR WITH SOME SORT OF LOCKING REAR END.

Figure out if your going to like it before you dump 5k into your 240 and realize you dont like drifting.
too many times have i come across guys who drop 10k into there cars and haven't entered ONE event. then realize they dont like drifting.

Seriously just weld our diff, make sure the motor is running strong and has nice clean fluid, possibly get better suspension, then go get some experience. Nothing you add to your car now will benefit you more than to just drive and get a feel for how your car handles. Get really good with your set up now then add the upgrades.
