What is this box? and what does it do?

Oh...that is called a thing. And from what I can see of it it looks like a plastic thing. There many things in your engine bay but this thing is a thing. These plastic things help the thing make the thing easier for the thing. If you didnt have the thing you wouldnt be able to do that thing either.

Anyways, j-rad that's part of Nissan's PAIR valve system. It's some emissions system, that was shown to be pretty much useless and isn't installed on S14s. You can remove it (i have) just be sure to block the hole where it hooked up to the air filter box, and put a plug or weld the bung closed where it feeds into the exhaust.

AIV you cant take it off and run the car smoother but you wont be able to pass your emissions it "warms up the cat" leave it there if you have do an emissions test and take it off if not.

Beware side effects may occur on some 240s and it cant be yours

PAIR - AIV it's called different stuff.BMAR, the fact that it's even there means he's got an obd1 car. and he's in missisippi. I highly doubt he's gonna fail emissions if he pulls it. And like i said s14s don't even have it, so it's pretty much useless engine bay clutter.

Well thanks everyone for the help, but for that one guy.. Anyway it did run into my air intake box someone broke the hose and tons of oil and grease got in my intake and ugh! but i have no clue what emessions is but o well and i guess ill patch the hole and not worry bout the "PAIR."
