if i had about 3 or 4grand can i get a pretty good 240sx 89-94 around michigan?

Absolutely....in the cleveland area you can get a super clean S13 for that. Check out http://www.autotrader.com http://www.autorv.com http://www.automart.com and stuff like that for local places that have them. In the last two, which are those freebie magazines that you can pick up at grocery stores there are currently S13's in both.
