where did you guys with external wastegates, hook up your vacuum line for the wastegate ?(side nipple)

side nipple is correct, go ahead and use a T fitting to T off the vacuum source from your Fuel Pressure Regulator

does it have to be from there or can i tee off from my bov vacuum source?

but isnt your BOV T'ed off a intake manifold source? i dont think you should T it directly off your BOV source because you dont want to steal any vacuum and you want the vacuum signal to be as sensitive as possible
