Forgive if this has been discussed but I searched and couldn't find anything. I'm doing an sr swap at the moment and everything I've read says to hook the wastegate signal hose to the ic piping. Problem is the pipes with my greedy ic kit don't have a fitting to do this with. Would it be a bad idea to tee off the line going to my bov or will this cause me problems. Is there anywhere else I can connect to the wastegate or is welding a fitting on the only solution. Thanks.

Does everything work well that way or does give you any problems.

Works better then having it on the intercooler piping. The wastegate opens when the engine see's boost. So you get faster spool up.

Hmm, actually that makes perfect sense. I've never thought of that. Though it does seem like that would make boost tend to want to spike more. No?

No, because it's running off the boost pressure in the engine. The single port wastegate the SR has is really kinda crappy, they will begin to open before the engine hits full boost.

Thats why there is a benefit to a modern twin chamber external gate apart from the flow gain.

Thanks for the info. This is my first turbo engine so I'm learning the small details as I go.

ive been told that running the vaccum line to the intercooler piping gives a better vaccum signal because the source is closer to the wastegate. Ive got mine tapted into the hotpipe and i see 14psi at 3500rpm with the T25. Should it spool faster than that?

I've seen OEM's both ways. Alot of the older style turbos take the source from the housing itself, others from the intake manifold. The OEM is going to take it from a simplistic stance to maintain cost effectiveness.

That being said, as long as you are seeing your target boost, you stand very little to gain from moving to another pick-up point with the stock turbo.
