My turbo doesn't have a connection for a vacuum to connect from the turbo to the external waste gate like how it is stock. Does this mean i just need to connect one vacuum to the waste gate and just cap off the other connection?

the best way is the drill and tap the outlet elbow of the turbo. This can be done off the car and without risking any swarf getting into the turbo, also keeps the boost measuremnt pipe short.

Not to thread jack, but I just connected my stock wastegate to the comp. housing using fuel inj. line instead of vaccum hose becuase it seems way more heat resistance being that its almost touching the manifold. will there be a problem with this?

Source it after the throttle body.

no need to drill your turbo! thats silly to go to that trouble and possibly get a few shavings near fast spinning blades (if you don't clean up well).

as was said, using the FPR or similar connection after the TB will be a better idea - this will also raise your boost a tad since you're measuring air AFTER it is cooled by the IC and also whats actually being used in the engine. Before TB (esp if near it) may cause extra loss of boost by the boost spike seen in front of the TB when closing it on shifts tripping the WG open and losing even more turbo velocity that has to be recovered to boost again.

I keep telling myself I'm going to cap the turbo compressor fitting and use one on the intake manifold after TB but never get around to it.. I'd like to get a boost gauge first

do not tap off the FPR please. Off the intake somewhere else is fine.

TMS: is this due to possibility of the flow restriction for vacuum/boost through the single connection is insufficient to actuate both the WG and FPR sufficiently, leaning to overboosting and running lean?

I worry more about fluctuating fuel pressure. I once saw a guy had teed a boost gauge, blow off valve and boost controller into his fpr hose.
