OK i got kind of a dumb question. I have a ka-t running currently with an xspower wastegate with a 5.8 or so spring in it and i bought a tial 11.5 psi spring. My question is that once i put the 11.5 tial spring in there is it possible to crank it down a bit with a manual boost controller to say 8 or so psi? Or is about 11.5 gonna be my minimum? I tried searching but wasn't able to come up with much on this one.any help is appreciated.thanks

whatever your spring is, is your min, so yes if its 11.5 psi then ya can't go down of that.

A boost controller can only INCREASE boost. If you want more boost, leave the stock spring and add a boost controller.

Ok well then i guess i'll hook up the boost controller i got. It's an ebay one much like this one.....zerothread?id=346138basically the exact same. Can i hook it up the same way to an external wastegate following those directions in this guys thread? Or is there a different route for external with a manual boost controller?

I tried lookin on the tech pages for "how to manual boost controllers" But it's not loading for me....

I have 2 different ones. I have one that is pretty much identical to this one in the auction.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem

Then i've got another one that seems more simple with just a dial and what apears to be an in and an out.

Right now i've got my wastegate t-d off of my fpr vacuum along with my bov. On all of the how-tos of manual boost controllers it's for people with internal wastegates and they just hook them in line between the wastegate and the nipple on the housing of the turbo. I'm just a little thrown off, and don't want to go mess anything up.

Hook it up like the thread you listed above. All boost controllers work the same way. They simply delay or limit the vacuum signal going to the wastegate actuator if it's internal or the actual gate itself if it's external. So put the BC between the vac input and the WG and you can effectively control when the wastegate will open. Adjust slowly and monitor your AFR's. When I first installed mine on my Skyline when I was a total noob to boost, I didn't even have a boost gauge. I just cranked up the wick and it turns out I was running 20 psi...on stock injectors Total failure on my part.

Just goes to show, we were all noobs at some point.

OK well since i'm still kind of scared of ebay boost controllers and overboosting or something i went ahead and put in the spring and i'm seeing 9 psi on my gauge. And i'm VERY happy with it. But it honestly feels like it should pull harder. I think my stock clutch is slipping quite a bit as well.
