wastegate solenoid and other solenoid ........what do they do???

first off i have a s13 with a redtop sr20det swap....i have a couple of questions....

1)what does the wastegate soleniod do.....does it control boost pressure??and i dont have it hook up right now....will this affect my boosting??

2)can anyone tell me what the green solenoid with the black knob on top is for......i also dont have this hook up to any vacuum lines.....will this hurt my performance

wg actuator gets vac from the intercooler pipes or if the turbo's been modified to have the nipple on it then there.
